1. Bunkers del Carmel

Unbeknownst to most, there is a small overlook that literally translates to ‘bunkers,’ but don’t let the name fool you: Bunkers del Carmel is a stunning vantage point in the El Carmel neighborhood. Take some sandwiches, carry your camera and get set for the breathtaking view of Barcelona. The best part? It’s free! You’ll need to take some food with you for a snack, and you should shoot a beautiful sunset.

How to get there:

Catch the metro to the Alfons X station (on Line 4, yellow line) and can then have the long journey up the hill on foot or opt for more convenient bus rides which reach to the entrance of the bunkers.

2. El Raval

El raval lies just off la rambla and represents one of the city’s most vibrant districts that unfortunately does not attract much attention from visitors. This colourful place is declared to be a multicultural zone in Barcelona and is replete with trendy bars, art galleries, and shops of all sorts. Wander through the alley like origination with graffiti paintings and have a cup of coffee or beer in some of the numerous trendy café’s.

Things to do in El Raval:

  • Go and see the modern art piece at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Barcelona (MACBA).
  • Learn history and explore one of the showpieces of El Raval, a stunning Romanesque church of Sant Pau del Camp.

3. Montjuïc Castle

Located on the Montjuïc Hill the beach of this amazing castle provides a breathtaking view of the whole Barcelona and the sea. How to get there:

You can take the Montjuïc Cable Car from Paral·lel metro station either Line 2 or Line 3 or Montjuïc funicular from Parallel metro station Line 2 or Line 3 that will drop you right at the vicinity of the castle.

4. Gràcia

Tired of the touristic hustle and bustle? Try to get lost in one of the cutest districts of the city – Gràcia. This cultural is characterized by relatively small and picturesque squares, local stores, and an informal atmosphere. Stroll along the unassuming & thin maze-like paths to better feel the local atmosphere. Two good places to sit in a café and watch the world go round are the Plaza del Sol and Plaza de la Virreina.

What to see in Gràcia:

  • Go to the only Park Guell where have been implemented architecture works of the famous architect Antoni Gaudi and which has beautiful view to the city.
  • Walking around the Mercat de l’Abaceria Central you can buy fruits, vegetables and seafood and try various Catalan dishes.
  • Of course, do not miss the Festes de Gràcia – it is a week celebration held in August, during which streets of the city are filled with spectacular decorations.

5. Horta Labyrinth Park

Relax from the noisy environment of the city and spend your time in the Horta Labyrinth Park. This wonderful piece of green land is one of the most hidden gems of Barcelona. Walk through the intricately trimmed hedging maze, amble along the garden pathways, and enjoy the works of art by artists of nature: ornate sculptures and cascading fountains. It is still an excellent spot for a love-making amidst the trees or even a day with your loved ones.

How to get there:

One can take the metro and get off at the Mundet station, green line, number 3, and then a rather welcoming and short 10-15 minute stroll to the park.
